Apache and DocumentRoot on a CIFS/SAMBA Share

I was trying to serve some pages and files off of a windows samba share but was only getting a blank page. After some googling around I found the solution.

Simply put “EnableSendfile Off” in your httpd.conf file and restart Apache.

GLPI blank screen after install

I just finished setting up two GLPI servers and had the same issue on both. After much slogging though google with very little help, I found mention of ownership issues (not to be confused with permissions issues). The glpi folder and all files and subfolders must be owned by the user and group the web server is running as. (Typically “nobody”, “www-data”, or “apache”.) It doesn’t matter even if you set your permissions chmod 777, the ownership is what makes the difference.

Assuming your httpd’s user/group is www-data here’s what you need to do: (Bold is a command, regular is the output, highlights are added for emphasis.)

htdocs # ls -l
total 2
drwxrwxrwx 15 root root 4096 Nov 30 06:04 glpi
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 44 Nov 20 15:22 index.html
htdocs# chown -R www-data:www-data glpi
htdocs # ls -l
total 2
drwxrwxrwx 15 www-data www-data 4096 Nov 30 06:04 glpi
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 44 Nov 20 15:22 index.html

Pioneer AVIC-D1 Touch Screen Recalibration

If your pioneer AVIC car navigation unit does not register your touches or the wrong button is “pressed”, you need to re-calibrate your screen’s digitizer.

  1. Hold the Eject button down until the face of the unit drops all the way
  2. Using a pen hold down the reset button (just above the joystick) and the navigation disc eject simultaneously.
  3. Release the reset button.
  4. Release the dvd eject button next. The display will read “press reset”
  5. Push the joystick up two times.
  6. Push the joystick down twice.
  7. Press the joystick in.
  8. The service menu will appear after a short pause. You can navigate the service menu using the joystick.
  9. Chose the first menu option and press in on the joystick.
  10. Trace the screen with a stylus.
  11. "P.ADJ" is the back button
  12. Chose the second menu item in order to calibrate the touch screen. Use a stylus again and tap the "+" sign on the screen. (You may have to touch slightly off center if the digitizer is damaged. In which case things will still be off but it will be much better.)
NOTE: You will lose your radio stations and settings.

Every year, Kalakaua Ave in Waikiki becomes a giant block party/sidewalk parade/free form costume pageant. People visiting from all over the globe and and Hawaii locals all come together, dress up, and mill about for the evening. Experience more of that night on my flickr page.
