Wordless Wednesday - Hawaii Panoramas

Looks like this week's Wordless Wednesday is going to spill over into Thursday too. (I'm not quite done with several more panos so come back on Thursday for more "wordlessness"!) ;-)

For more pretty picture goodness make sure to subscribe to my blog using the buttons on the right.

The Waterfront Memorial and USS Bowfin Submarine.

Next door to the USS Arizona Memorial Visitor Center is the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park. The Waterfront Memorial is dedicated to 52 submarines and over 3,500 submariners that were killed in combat during World War II. The individual tablets list the names of the subs and the men that perished along with details of the fate each met.

USS Arizona Gun Turret Mount #3
This mount is all that remains above water of the USS Arizona. Gun Turret number three was removed during salvage operations and put into service for coastal defense. Often seen nearby are "tears of the Arizona", as oil seeps from the hull and creates a rainbow of color on the surface.

If you like these pictures, I'd appreciate ya clicking the button below to give me a "thumbs up" on stumbleupon. Happy Wordless Wed! (I've been awful chatty for it to be a wordless Wednesday, o'well.)
